1. Who We Are
Venturetakes ("we", "us", "our") is a mobile application that provides AI-generated summaries and key takeaways from venture capital, startup, and technology podcasts. References to "you" or "your" mean any person who uses our app or visits our website.

2. Information We Collect
We collect information in two ways: information you provide directly, and information collected automatically.
Information you provide:
- Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and (if you use Sign in with Apple) an anonymized identifier provided by Apple.
- Payment information. Subscription payments are processed entirely by Apple's App Store, Google Play, or our payment processor RevenueCat. We do not store your credit card or bank details. We receive a subscription status and an anonymized purchase token.
- Communications. If you contact our support team, we keep a record of the correspondence including your email address and the content of your messages.
Information collected automatically:
- Usage data. We collect data about how you interact with the app — episodes viewed, summaries read, search terms used, and features accessed. This data is used to improve the product.
- Device information. We collect device type, operating system version, app version, and a device identifier for error diagnostics.
- Crash reports. When the app crashes, we receive an anonymized crash report including a stack trace and device metadata. No personal data is included in crash reports.
- Analytics. We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate usage patterns. No individual usage profiles are sold or shared with advertisers.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the Venturetakes service
- Process subscription payments and verify your subscription status
- Personalize your experience (e.g., remembering your preferred categories)
- Respond to your support requests and questions
- Send you transactional communications (e.g., subscription confirmation, renewal notices)
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your personal data to serve you third-party advertising. We do not profile you for advertising purposes.
4. AI Processing
Venturetakes uses artificial intelligence to generate podcast summaries and key takeaways. Podcast audio and transcripts are processed by our AI systems to produce the summaries you read in the app.
Podcast content is processed solely to generate summaries and is not used to train our AI models without appropriate licensing and consent. Episode transcripts may be stored to power the full-transcript feature for Premium subscribers.
We do not process any personally identifiable information through our AI pipeline. Your usage data (what you read, what you search) is used only in aggregate to improve summary quality.
5. Subscription and Payments via RevenueCat
We use RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions. RevenueCat acts as a payment infrastructure provider. When you subscribe, RevenueCat receives your anonymized purchase token from the App Store or Google Play and communicates your subscription status to us.
RevenueCat does not have access to your payment card details. Billing is handled by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies. You can review RevenueCat's privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.
6. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. We may share data in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers. We share data with trusted vendors who help us operate the service (cloud hosting, analytics, crash reporting, payment processing). These parties are contractually required to protect your data and may only use it to provide services to us.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or to protect our legal rights or the safety of our users.
- Business transfers. If Venturetakes is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. You will be notified via email and/or a prominent notice in the app.
- Aggregate data. We may share anonymized, aggregated statistics (e.g., "thousands of episodes summarized per week") that cannot be used to identify you.
7. Data Retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law (e.g., financial records for tax purposes).
Aggregated, anonymized usage data may be retained indefinitely as it cannot identify you.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access. You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction. You may ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Deletion. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data. Use the "Delete Account" option in Settings or email us at privacy@venturetakes.com.
- Data portability. You may request your data in a machine-readable format.
- Opt-out of analytics. You may opt out of usage analytics in the app Settings.
For California residents, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) provides additional rights. We do not sell personal information. For CCPA requests, contact privacy@venturetakes.com.
9. Children's Privacy
Venturetakes is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe we may have such information, contact us at privacy@venturetakes.com.
10. International Transfers
Venturetakes is operated from the United States. If you are located outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. By using our service, you consent to this transfer.
11. Security
We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS), access controls, and routine security reviews to protect your data. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or an in-app notice at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the service after notice constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
